School District of University City Launches Student Newscast
The School District of University City has launched a brand-new, student-led newscast. This groundbreaking production distinguishes the District as one of the few school systems in the region with a student-led newscast.
The newscast, which will be known as SDUC News, is intended to inform district students, teachers, staff, parents, and the broader University City community about the great things happening in The School District of University City. SDUC News will be produced monthly and posted on the District’s YouTube channel and website at ucityschools.org/sducnews. University City High School alumnus and local media producer Rod Milam assisted with the auditions and provided the voiceover for the SDUC News intro.
“The production of SDUC News is an exciting development for our students, parents, and the community of University City,” said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Sharonica Hardin-Bartley. “I am extremely proud of the students who are taking part and leading the way in showcasing the accomplishments of our district.”
Each newscast episode will be approximately 10-15 minutes long and will feature stories published on the website of The School District of University City, as well as stories published in the UCity PRIDE newsletter.
