STEAM Expo Draws 350 guests for a Night of Science, Socializing and Hands-on Fun

Congratulations to the dozens of students, staff, partners, parents and caregivers who donated their time on the evening of November 10 to conduct another fantastic STEAM Expo. More than 350 guests of all ages attended the expo, which presented more than 30 hands-on activities related to science, technology, engineering, the arts and math.

Guests played catch with a robot; dug their hands deep in dirt as they explored the dinosaur age; utilized a 3-D printer,; conducted motorized Lego challenges; learned about rainwater and soil conservation; compared the sizes of animal skulls and brains; got schooled in the forensic art of fingerprinting; measured their heart rates; used stethoscopes; zoomed in on microscopic Zebra fish; and much more.

Brittany Woods Middle School sustainability students also conducted a popular pop-up shop where they sold their very own Brittany Brand honey, cinnamon butter, pepper jam, sweet potatoes, pumpkin body scrub, lip balm, granola and potting soil. All of the products were prepared with natural materials harvested from the students' own apiary, chicken coop and garden.

The annual Expo is part of the District’s Title I programming to ensure parents and students have the chance to learn science together within their school community. Thank you to this year’s volunteer presenters:
