Sept. 1: Celebrate Literacy for Joy & Justice at Speaker's Event

Nwando Achebe_ Literacy for Joy Justice Visit 090123Hear and participate in a rich and engaging discussion on Women and Power in Africa during The School District of University City's second annual Literacy for Joy & Justice speaker series. This year's speaker is Ethiopian scholar and historian Nwando Achebe, the Jack and Margaret Sweet Endowed Professor of History and the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the College of Social Science at Michigan State University. During the event, Achebe will also honor the landmark novel "Things Fall Apart," written by her father. 

The free event takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, in the University City High School library. A book signing will be held at the event.
