Camp U: June 5 to June 30
Camp U is the District’s camp-like summer learning program for rising first through eighth graders. All spots are currently full. There is no camp on Monday, June 19 in honor of the Juneteenth federal holiday. Please note that students are required to attend all four weeks of the camp. If they cannot attend all four weeks, parents and caregivers are asked to forfeit the spot so another student can attend for the full four weeks.

  • Grades 1-5: Meet at Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School (note change in location from last year), 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily
  • Grades 6-8: Meet at Brittany Woods Middle School, 8 a.m. to noon

Summer Learning Academy: June 5 to June 29
Summer Learning Academy is University City High School’s program for credit recovery and other learning opportunities. The Academy runs Mondays through Thursdays. There is no session on Monday, June 19, due to the Juneteenth federal holiday. There are several learning options available for freshmen or upper classes seeking credit recovery.

Re-enrollment for the 2023-24 school year
Starting June 5, all parents and caregivers with returning students must re-enroll their students by updating the online Parent Portal well before the first day of school on August 21, 2023. This process ensures that all students are properly immunized before the start of school and that all student information is correct - this includes emergency contact information, media consent, and other important items. Parents and caregivers who do this process before July 1, will be put in a raffle to win University City dining gift cards.

  • The District will host two walk-in re-enrollment days during business hours at the McNair Administration Building, 7700 Olive, 63101, on July 31 and August 1.
  • To complete the process online, go to: www.ucityschools.org/EnrollExistingFamily.

Back to School Rally and National Night Out: August 1
This always popular community-wide celebration of school readiness and safety will take place rain or shine on the grounds of Jackson Park Elementary School from 5 to 7 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents, caregivers and students to reconnect with teachers and staff and have easy access to a variety of community resources. As always, there will be free school supplies, fun music, performances, a bubble bus, face painting, balloon art, free food and cool refreshments, and more! Admission is free.

Jump Start to Kindergarten: July 31 to August 2
If you have a student entering kindergarten in the upcoming school year, don’t miss out on sending them to Jump Start to Kindergarten, a free student orientation program. Attendance is highly encouraged. Students will get to know their new teachers and their new classmates. They will get a lay of the land of their school too, including the cafeteria, playground, gym and other areas of their new school. Students who attend particularly love getting on the school bus to learn the ropes of riding the big orange bus.

Transition Events for Students Entering Middle and High School

  • Middle School: TBD
  • University City High School: Freshmen Orientation, Thursday, August 18, 8 a.m. to noon
