The King of Hospitality Shows Up for District Families Impacted by Summer Flooding
A donation drive culminating in a free community assembly on Sunday, December 18, 2022, in the University City High School auditorium is underway for the University City community thanks to Gary Boyd, the crowned host of the popular Them Yo People broadcast.
Boyd, known as Mister Gary, the King of Hospitality, has long been a supporter of the district, attending many events with his signature crown and scepter. He most recently was a guest at the University City Hall of Fame, spreading good cheer and congratulations to our inductees and their supporters.
Now, he is giving back to the community with a “Show Up and Show Out” toy, gift card and coat drive that runs from December 10 to 17, 2022. All of the proceeds and donations from the drive will benefit flood victims in the University City community. Boyd, with sponsors Outfront Media, Save A Lot, William C. Harris Funeral Home, Greenlight Dispensary, Kwame Construction and Hi Tone Enterprises, will mark the end of the drive with a special performance to be held at 2 p.m. in the University City Auditorium featuring Broadway and holiday music performances and a live auction. The event will include presentation of the toys and other donations to pre-selected individuals, including parents and caregivers from numerous district families that faced significant hardship when flash flooding devastated parts of University City this past summer.
