Holiday Appeal Brings Gifts, Supplies and Cheer to 100 District Families
School District of University City social workers (L-R) Christine Parks, Stacey Miller, Christine Woodward and Allegra Grawer worked hard this year recruiting donors and collecting gifts and donations. The annual holiday Appeal assisted 100 District families with home and holiday needs.
As students, staff and families prepare for a long holiday break and a season of rest, compassion and gratitude, The School District of University City would like to thank the many community members who donated gifts to 100 school district families so they and their 282 children could better celebrate the holiday season.
During the week of December 1st, community donors dropped off to the high school hundreds of gifts to fulfill our families' wish lists, providing toys, clothing, household supplies and gift cards.
The room was packed with generosity, well wishes and gratitude as the families began picking up their gifts later that week.
This Holiday Appeal is truly unique to the School District of University and embodies so many of the District's core values regarding, inclusion and joy and well-being for all of our students and families.
This annual appeal would not have been possible without the leadership of high school social worker Christine Woodward and the hard work of fellow social workers Allegra Grawer, Stacey Miller and Christine Parks as well as District volunteers. The District would also like to thank longterm contributors to the Appeal: Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, The Gate Church, Victory Outreach Chuch, One Family Church, First Presbyterian Church of University City, Ellen Bern, Christ the King Church, Bais Abraham Synagogue, All Nations Church, University City Fire Department, University City Public Library and Winco Window Company.
Happy holidays!
