U. City Earns State Awards for Journalism
Congratulations to University City High School journalism students who received an impressive 23 state awards during the Missouri Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) 2019 Scholastic Journalism Day held March 25 on the Columbia campus of University of Missouri. Student journalists from the U-Times newspaper, U-Times Online and DIAL yearbook were honored for their excellence.
"Putting together our yearbook, newspaper and online newspaper is the ultimate exercise in project-based learning for students,” said Mary Williams, media advisor/English and journalism teacher at the high school. “The authentic experiences include interviewing, photography, graphic design, ad sales and publishing. It is amazing to witness the growth of the students as they work to learn these skills."
