Mannequins on The Loop
For the first time, University City High School students participated in the Mannequins on the Loop design contest. "Mannequins on The Loop" was started 10 years ago by Audrey Jones, a local designer of women's clothing, and her mother, Dorothy Davis. The program aims to showcase St. Louis artistic talent while raising awareness of the need to "go green," especially in fashion. Over the years, the contest has attracted more participants and spectators, leading to UCHS students participating in this year's event. All contestants of the contest had to create an environmentally-friendly design for a mannequin through recycled materials.
"Mannequins on The Loop" concluded at Craft Alliance in the Delmar Loop on Sunday June 10, at 5 p.m. The event was free and open to anyone and offered the opportunity to see amazing artwork and support University City, the District and the local community. At this finale, the mannequins were judged from various Art and Fashion professors from Washington University, and the Grand Prize Winner, Second Place and the Audience Favorite award was announced.
