Black History Month 2024

Black History MonthAs we celebrate Black History Month, we reflect on the invaluable contributions and enduring resilience of the Black community throughout history. This time serves as an opportunity to delve into the stories of the pioneers who broke barriers, the activists who championed civil rights and the artists who enriched our culture. It’s a time to celebrate the achievements that often went unrecognized, acknowledge the struggles that paved the way to progress and amplify the voices that continue to shape our collective narrative.

The School District of University City has many special activities and events planned to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of African Americans throughout history. Families and caregivers are encouraged to join us in some of the celebrations, or simply take some time to talk with their child(ren) about the importance of our shared history and culture. Also, be on the lookout for inspirational messages from both historical and contemporary African American trailblazers this month both in your schools and on social media.

We hope some of this month’s Black History activities will ignite your own aspirations and conversations. Please check the District website calendar and school emails for most current information.
