Congratulations to Christina Grove and Pam Meyer!
The School District of University City is delighted to announce Christina Grove is the 2021-22 Teacher of the Year for The School District of University City and Pam Meyer is the 2021-22 Educational Support Person of the Year for the District.
Grove, an eighth-grade social studies teacher at Brittany Woods Middle School, is ”all-in” when it comes to her students and The School District of University City. She is a 1994 graduate of University City High School who decided about nine years ago to change careers and come home to teach in U. City Schools. She and her husband, Chris - a math teacher in Jennings - have two children in the District, 7th grader Joshua, and senior Jared, who is preparing for college. Superintendent Sharonica Hardin-Bartley said Grove speaks her truth with students and our community.
This year Grove became the District’s CLR Facilitator because of her unwavering passion and conviction for racial equity and justice for our staff, students and her University City community. She received the surprise news, and flowers and balloons, in front of her students while teaching on Thursday, March 11. Joshua was also there to see his mom get the exciting news.
Meyer, a 27-year employee with the District, was also surprised Thursday with flowers and balloons. For more than a decade Meyer has worked as the administrative assistant in the Curriculum and Instruction office in the McNair Administration Building. But that really doesn’t describe her role in our district, Hardin-Bartley said. "Pam, without hesitation, is willing to go far beyond her job duties. She always sees the big picture and does what’s best by reaching out to her colleagues at all of our schools to get the job done. The energy and enthusiasm she brings to her daily work is frankly, ferocious."
The District is so grateful to have both of these fine people in its community. Enjoy this video of them hearing the news.
