Four UCHS Students Win Plein Air Competition
On Sunday, Sept. 23, University City High School student-artists signed in to participate in U. City in Bloom’s 2018 biennial Plein Air “Art in Bloom” Festival and four were recognized for their outstanding work in the youth competition:
- First place - Jade Morrow
- Second place - Rebecca Rico
- Third place - Shu’ Rya Butler
- Curator’s Choice - Shu’ Rya Butler & Andrew Immer
The students’ artwork was featured at the Oct. 7 Gallery reception at the U. City Public Library and will remain on display throughout October.
Artwork by other Plein Air student-artists is on display at the Student Art Center in the old UCHS library during the second quarter.
Special appreciation to their teacher, Marnie Claunch, who is also both the District curriculum coordinator for visual arts and the high school art department chairperson, and retired teacher Tony Taylor.
