On April 12, 2019, 15 seventh-grade students from Brittany Woods Middle School participated in Middle School Model United Nations, hosted by Civitas-St. Louis.
Middle School Model UN is a simulation of a real United Nations session. Through this program, students take on the role of United Nations ambassadors, working with other countries to address today’s most pressing international issues.
The student worked to prepare a resolution, and three were selected for the general assembly.
The topics were:
Afghanistan's request that the United Nations force an end to U.S. and NATO occupation.
Sierra Leone's need for wells to provide clean drinking water.
Alternate farming techniques to reduce air pollution in India.
Bryan Ammons, Quinn Dorsey, Amirah Edwards, Declan O'Leary, Rosemary Shawver and Bella Wright were selected to attend the Honors Model United Nations program on Saturday, May 11. Watch for updates on the school's Facebook page.
