At Pershing Elementary School, we are unapologetically committed to celebrating and empowering each student's unique identity and brilliance. We will lead and learn for liberation with a primary focus on social justice, so that every student leaves Pershing with the knowledge and skills to make a significant impact in their communities. Every day, students will engage in meaningful and joyful learning experiences that build their capacity as eco-conscious citizens and build their understanding of the arts as a means of advocacy.

Building Schedule

Office Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Instructional Time: 8:45 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.
Early Release: 1:15 p.m.

Teachers provide supervision before school beginning at 8:30 a.m. and after school in front of the building until 3:40 p.m.

Greetings Pershing Families & Community Partners:

Welcome to Pershing Elementary School!  We pride ourselves on being a community hub that supports students and families beyond academics. Pershing is more than a place of learning; it is a vibrant, inclusive community where everyone is valued and supported.

Our students are the heartbeat of everything we do. Their enthusiasm, curiosity and brilliance drive our mission and inspire our daily efforts. We are dedicated to fostering and nurturing an engaging environment where each child can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. 

Every decision we make, from curriculum development to extracurricular activities, is centered around their growth and well-being. It is through their eyes that we see the future and their dreams feed our commitment to excellence.  Please see just a few of our Pershing Points of Pride: 

  • In 2022-2023, our students achieved the highest math growth in the state on the Missouri Grade-Level Assessment (MO GLA), a testament to our dedicated teachers and our focus on quality instruction.

  • Our dedicated team includes nine Pershing alums who bring their passion and experience back – in service to children!

  • In 2020, staff and families helped update our school mission and vision, ensuring our goals and values align with the needs and aspirations of our community.

  • A new Sustainability Course was launched to help empower our students by giving them the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to a more sustainable future.

  • Pershing was awarded the “Green School Quest Rookie of the Year” award for 2023-2024, recognizing our commitment to environmental sustainability and innovative practices.

  • And, thanks to our community’s passage of Proposition U,  (April 2024), we will start school 2024-25 with a brand new playground with equipment, safety and accessibility upgrades. In the near future, we will see additional improvements to our beautiful building and grounds.

I have learned so much over the last few years and am extremely grateful to serve the best school in the School District of University City.
