Communicating with Families
The School District of University City communicates with parents and families in numerous ways.
SchoolMessenger is our parent notification tool. Parents can opt in to receive emails, robocalls and texts via this system. Please make sure that we have your current contact information at all times by visiting the Parent Portal and making necessary updates. The Office of Communications typically sends a weekly Superintendent's email to all families through SchoolMessenger with timely updates and information. We hope you find the information useful. You may opt out of these emails at any time through the Parent Portal.
- Texting to cell phones is a very effective way for the District to alert parents and caregivers of critical or time-sensitive emails arriving in their inboxes. Texting is not used for all emails, but just for those that are very important. The District highly recommends opting in to receive texts so you don't miss critical information via the Parent Portal. If your cell phone information is accurate and up-to-date in the Parent Portal, users can opt-in to receive SchoolMessenger texts from the District by texting Yes to 67587 on your cell phone.
Weather and Emergency Closures and Announcements: Parents, caregivers and staff will receive an email, text and phone call via SchoolMessenger immediately after any closure decision. For procedures, click here.
Superintendent Family Emails are typically sent on Fridays via SchoolMessenger. For an archive of past emails, click here.
PeachJar sends weekly emails to your inbox with flyers advertising upcoming district and community events and things of interest for parents and students. In an effort to save costs and support the environment, the District no longer sends paper flyers home with students. You can access PeachJar directly by clicking here.
Individual School Emails are sent to parents from school principals on a weekly basis.
PRIDE is our print news magazine sent to all University City Residents at least twice a year. For the most recent back issue, click here.
