    Strong schools have strong family involvement, and they seek ways to include parents in the school community at every level. Research shows that students do better academically and socially when schools build positive relationships with their families.

    Parental involvement in education is crucial regardess of family income or background. Involved parents help improve academic performance, increase attendance and create a more vibrant school community.

    In this section, you will find important information to help you; whether you are enrolling a child, looking for information on how to volunteer, or are searching for important support services for your student. We encourage you to use all resources available. If you have further questions or suggestions, reach out to your school principal.

    An important note about communication: The School District of University City communicates with parents and families in a number of ways. SchoolMessenger is our email and emergency notification tool. Please make sure we have current contact information for you at all times by visiting the Parent Portal and making any necessary changes. The Office of Communications sends a family email through SchoolMessenger twice per month with timely, important information. We hope you find the information useful but you may opt out of these emails at any time.

    There are a number of school-based publications offered to keep you informed of events, activities and important announcements, including PTO newsletters and teacher notes. Our principals regularly communicate through the principal's newsletter, so be sure to watch for it or call your child's school to be added to the email list.
