Projects Plan

First, thank you and our community for the overwhelming, 88.51% support of Proposition U! The District’s zero tax rate increase bond issue will generate $65 million for upgrades, repairs, renovations and reimagining of space districtwide.

Our Finance Department will sell the first round of bonds in early July, generating the funding we need to proceed with Phase I of the three-phase project list. Phase I projects are priority projects either related to safety and security or where there is an immediate academic, infrastructure or athletic need. Priority 2 Projects will fall into Phase II. Phase III includes the renovation of our high school's west wing (along Balson Ave.). 

Below, please see the exciting Phase I plans for our schools! Some of these projects will either take place or launch this summer with others occurring over the 2024-25 or 2025-26 school years. Project construction start - finish timelines are included in the Phase I project list below for each school.

Julia Goldstein Early Childhood Education Center

  • Multipurpose Room - Refresh our indoor play and learning space to encourage more interactive engagement (Summer 2024 - Fall 2024).
  • Secure Entry - Entrance will be reconfigured for greater safety and security (Summer 2024 - Summer 2024).
  • Premise ID - In late 2023, the City of University City passed an ordinance requiring a standardized way-finding system for first responder entry and guidance in the event of an emergency. This system involves adding signage to windows, to both interior and exterior doors, to specific walls within rooms, and to walls at certain sections of corridors (Summer 2024 - Fall 2024).
  • Video Cameras - Upgrade of cameras for improved security (Fall 2024 - Fall 2024). 
  • Parking Lot Upgrades - Asphalt areas will receive much-needed attention (Summer 2024 - Summer 2024).
  • Outdoor Public Address System - Facilitates communication with students and staff while learning or playing outside the building (Spring 2025 - Summer 2025). 
  • Hot Water Pump - Replace the hot water pump (Summer 2024 - Fall 2024). 
  • Roof Repair - Addressing immediate roof needs (Summer 2024 - Fall 2024).

Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School

University City High School

  • Sustainability - Expand and create innovative spaces for our sustainability classrooms (Summer 2024 - Fall 2024).
