Educational Support Person of the Year
Deadline: Last Friday in January
Nominations are accepted year-round.
The School District of University City is always seeking Educational Support Person of the Year Award nominations.
Nominees must be current, educational support personnel, which includes District employees who serve as:
- secretaries,
- nurses,
- technicians,
- aides (FA/TA),
- food service,
- social workers,
- custodial/maintenance or
- any other non-certificated ESP.
The nominee must have worked for The School District of University City for a minimum of two (2) years prior to the nomination deadline and anticipate continuing employment for the following school year. According to District Guidelines, consultants and persons holding supervisory positions are ineligible. Nominations are accepted year-round, however late nominations (according to the Timeline) will be held for the following year.
Nominees must be respected and admired by students, parents and colleagues for their service above and beyond their responsibilities and play an active role in the District, whether it is job-related or through extracurricular activities. They are evaluated on the following areas:
- Inspiration and role model to students and staff in the District
- Active role in the District
- Service and leadership in school and/or District
- Special job-related strengths and skills which affect the educational process
- Personal qualities (i.e.: attitude, creativity, relationships, etc.)
- Above and beyond what is required for the job
Nominators may submit a printed nomination(s) in a sealed envelope to the UCFT-SRP building representative, school secretary or directly to:

If submitted via your nearest University City public school's main office, please allow two school days for arrival to McNair building via interoffice mail.
New awardee(s) are announced during a springtime school board meeting and presented during the District's year-end U Are Special celebration, formerly called Honorees & Retirees Reception in May as well as staff Opening Day festivities in the fall.
