A new episode of From the Heart of U. City is here!

In this episode, Superintendent Dr. Sharonica L. Hardin-Bartley is joined by Pershing Elementary’s “Know Alots,” the school’s first-ever Equations Team. Led by Pershing Math Specialist Ms. Christmas, this talented group of 4th grade students has been solving math problems at a middle school level and competing in regional Equations tournaments.

Throughout the conversation, students shared how much confidence they have gained in their math skills this year, while their enthusiasm, passion, and excitement for learning shined through in every moment. The episode also highlights the meaningful representation featured on the back of the team’s shirts, which honor famous Black mathematicians and STEAM professionals while celebrating excellence, representation, and the power of learning
