Summer 2022 Camp U Registration
CampU is now in Session!
“We want our students to come to school and learn, but have fun.
They need an array of rich experiences, especially after such a hard year.
Camp U really is an extension of Learning Reimagined, and we are excited to rethink summer school so it better serves our students.”
- Superintendent Sharonica Hardin-Bartley

Summer 2022 Camp U sessions will run June 6 - July 1, 2022
This summer, The School District of University City is proud to offer its students hands-on fun and engaging summer learning through Camp U 2022: A Summer of Exploration and Discovery.
Camp U is more than just a summer school. The free, in-person camp offers traditional teacher-led support in reading, writing and math, but in a dynamic way that utilizes partnerships and field trips with important St. Louis institutions, including the Magic House’s Made makerspace, COCA, the Saint Louis Science Center, The Green Center and others. Teachers will design their camps around themed topics that integrate hands-on learning and learning competencies.
Camp U is free to University City's rising 1st-5th graders and will be offered in-person on Monday through Friday over a span of four weeks. Incoming 1st through 5th graders attend camp at Jackson Park Elementary School from 8:40 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch included.
Rising 6th through 8th graders attend a free half-day camp at Brittany Woods Middle School from 8 a.m. to noon. Preregistration is open through Friday, May 6th at www.ucityschools.org/BWCampURegistration. Course offerings include 6th-grade Makerspace, U-Broadcast and Healthy Lifestyle Management; 7th-grade Giving Garden, Bon Appetit and Forensics 101; along with 8th-grade U-Dance, Drumline and Sport U. Click here for course descriptions.
University City High School for rising 9th-12th grade students will continue with its free summer credit-recovery program. Virtual credit-recovery options will be offered for high school students on Monday through Thursday, June 6-30. Registration is open until May 20, 2022, at www.ucityschools.org/UCHS-SLARegistration. Click here for more details.
For rising 9th graders: 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (No Fridays)
- June 6-16 - Transition Program: In-person program to build relationships with staff and prepare them for success in high school
- June 20-30 - Summer Honors Institute: In-person program required for all freshman ELA and social studies honors students to help prepare for advance coursework
Camp U's programming not only offers children a chance to catch up and accelerate in reading, writing and math, but provides the joy and enrichment of a summer camp experience – giving them a chance to unwind, refresh and reconnect after such a hard year.
“We want our students to come to school and learn, but have fun,” Hardin-Bartley said. “They need an array of rich experiences, especially after such a hard year. Camp U really is an extension of Learning Reimagined, and we are excited to rethink summer school so it better serves our students.”
Camp U will utilize the same safety and health protocols currently in use for in-person instruction. Students will still physically distance while in buildings, and mask-wearing is required. Students will also be able to socialize and learn outside in healthy air and sunshine.
