  • GATE Students Honored by Board of Education

    Students in Wu Bakeman's 2nd grade Gifted and Talented Education class were recently recognized by the Board of Education for participation in the Academic Challenge Cup.

  • Students Featured in Local Newspaper

    Kindergarten students Brianna McAtee, Amiyah Hogans, Brooklyn Davis, Nina Miller, Zoe Luong, Cortez Sheppard, Kingston Davis and Brooklyn Jones were featured in a photograph from our birthday celebration for our schools' namesake Barbara C. Jordan. The photo was taken by UCHS alumn Wiley Price, a member of the UCHS Hall of Fame.

    The tradition continues as University City High School (UCHS) Principal Susan Hill and Superintendent Sharonica Hardin-Bartley, Ph.D. PHR, announced that 11 new alumni are being added to the historic high school’s star-studded Hall of Fame (HOF). Click headline for more information.

  • District team participates in STEM IQ Leadership Retreat

    This summer, a team of U. City educators attended Wash. U.'s 2017 STEM IQ (Integration Quality) Leadership Retreat to learn and create STEM-based Pillar Learning Experiences using the 5E's (engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate) that is specifically targed for middle school students. This year's goal is to embed one STEM-based Pillar Learning Experience into the 7th and 8th grade science curriculum each semester. (Click on headline to read more.)

  • Lego's WeDo Brings Robotics to Third Graders

    Teachers investigated Lego Education WeDo Robotics materials in preparation for ​use in third-grade classrooms across the District beginning in the 2017-18 school year. While WeDo introduces students to robotics, engineering and programming, it is also a useful tool for teaching STEM in general.

    Grace Deitzler, UCHS C/O 2013, is profiled in Missouri S&T Magazine for her research in women's health. She is a research scientist in the Washington University in St. Louis Lewis Lab of Microbial Glycobiology and Women’s Health. Deitzler wants to be a Ph.D. scientist and physician unlocking the secrets to treating infectious diseases. Click on the headline to read more.
