This summer, a team of U. City educators attended Wash. U.'s 2017 STEM IQ (Integration Quality) Leadership Retreat to learn and create STEM-based Pillar Learning Experiences using the 5E's (engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate) that is specifically targed for middle school students. This year's goal is to embed one STEM-based Pillar Learning Experience into the 7th and 8th grade science curriculum each semester. (Click on headline to read more.)
Teachers investigated Lego Education WeDo Robotics materials in preparation for use in third-grade classrooms across the District beginning in the 2017-18 school year. While WeDo introduces students to robotics, engineering and programming, it is also a useful tool for teaching STEM in general.

Grace Deitzler, UCHS C/O 2013, is profiled in Missouri S&T Magazine for her research in women's health. She is a research scientist in the Washington University in St. Louis Lewis Lab of Microbial Glycobiology and Women’s Health.
