Student Activities at Brittany Woods

Student Council
Students will meet discuss academic and social dynamics within the school. They will also be responsible for improving school spirit and awareness.

Where Everyone Belongs

A group designed to increase school participation and spirit. They will also serve as mentors to incoming classes.

After-School Program Activities

Brittany Woods Middle School offers a number of after-school programs to support students, which range from service organizations to extra tutoring help. 

The Maker’s Council
The Makers' Council will be working with Student Council to make items for fundraisers. If you enjoy working with your hands and being creative, please join us and get crafty! You don't need any prior skills, but must be willing to learn and work as a team.

Young Ladies of Elegance and Gentleman’s Quarterly
These organizations have a common purpose and set of ideals helping students to become the best they can be through a variety of cultural activities and community service opportunities.

Archery
Students will develop discipline and learn focus skills through the game of archery. Students will also train and compete in various competitions.

National Jr. Honor Society
National Junior Honor Society creates enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulates a desire to render service, promotes leadership, develops character, and encourages citizenship for students at Brittany Woods Middle School. Weekly meetings are for students who were inducted into the NJHS.

Robotics
Do you like computers? How about working with your hands? What about Math and Science? Art, Creative Writing? No matter what your favorite subject is, we have the perfect after school club for you!! Come join the First Lego League Club.

Multi-Media and Yearbook
This club will learn and implement creative media applications and develop the school yearbook. 
Meeting day: Wednesday. Contact/location: Ms. Gates-Nichols
 

Art Club
This club is for students who have special talents in the area of visual arts and are interested in developing these talents through various art related projects. 
Meetings will begin second semester. Contact/location: Ms. Sara Ratcliff Rm34
 

Drama Club
This club is for students who are interested in developing drama skills through a variety of activities. 
Meeting day: Tuesday. Location: Little Theater
 

Chess Club
The Washington University Chess Club is teaming with the students of Brittany Woods. Each week we will introduce elements of analysis and strategy. All skill levels welcome. Learn to play or improve your game. If you’ve never played before, now is YOUR chance to learn.

Girl’s STEP Team
Students will learn exciting choreography, prepare for assemblies and develop a team spirit. This club will teach art of STEP to while developing young ladies of consistency, confidence, and class.

Poetry Club
Come express yourself through poetry, rhyme, and reason by learning and experiencing the “power” of words. Washington University students will facilitate creative writing workshops to give you the platform to learn to “Express Yourself.”

Girls on the Run
This organization teaches girls life skills in a healthy and fun way. 
Meeting day: Tuesday & Thursday. Contact/location: Ms. Terri Thomas, Rm247
 

Dance Fundamentals
Washington University dance students will teach the fundamentals of dance through elements of African and Modern dance. Join and learn. 
Meeting day: Wednesday. Contact/location: Washington U volunteers, location TBA.
 

Model United Nations
Brittany Woods students will participate in an academic simulation of the United Nations to educate participants about civics, current events, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy.

Future Health Care Provider's Club
If you are interested in becoming a Physician, Nurse, Health Educator, Dietician, Physical Therapist or other health care provider, please come explore these careers through a deeper understanding of the science involved in these careers.
Meeting day: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during February. Students must commit to all three days.
