Back-to-School Rally & National Night Out 2012
This year the School District of University City and the University City Police Department will be joining forces to host a joint Back-to-School Rally & National Night Out event on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the McNair campus, located at 8136 Groby Road. In the past, these two events have been separate, but we are combining them to bring the University City community together on one night.
This free community-wide event provides valuable services and support to families throughout the University City community. The annual Back-to-School Rally incorporates free backpacks of school supplies, haircuts, health screenings, educational activities, information about community organizations among other offerings. The annual National Night Out event hosts a performance stage, petting zoo, free food for guests and information about family safety and community organizations. The program is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and promote neighborhood spirit and policy-community partnerships.
Volunteers and Booth Reservations
Volunteers are needed for two shifts during the event to help with registration, activity check-in stations and other tasks. (Volunteer Form 2012)
Free booths are available for local non-profit, community and educational organizations. Booth registration deadline is July 18. (Booth Registration Form 2012)
