Supplies
1 two-pocket folder with fasteners (only if they need a new one)
12 pencils
Expectations
Students are expected to follow Jackson Park High Five Expectations, as well as classroom rules and procedures.
Our School-wide Expectations are as follows:
1.Be Safe
2.Be Cooperative
3.Be Peaceful
4.Be Respectful
5.Be Kind
Classroom Rules:
1. Respect yourself
2. Respect others
3. Respect property of the school and others
Classroom Procedures:
Our procedures are aspects of the classroom that are relevant to the task at hand. Procedures differ from rules in the sense that they are negotiable and they vary contingent upon the activity. In our democratic classroom, students will be the creators of classroom procedures. At the beginning of the year I will guide students to establish the procedures necessary to make our classroom work efficiently. I will do this by presenting a potential classroom situation where the students are responsible for devising a solution through community-based participation.
Classroom Consequences:
Since our rules are nonnegotiable, students will receive immediate consequences as opposed to a warning. In regard to our procedures, students will be issued a warning that will describe what they are doing wrong, as well as instruction of how to perform the procedure correctly. If students are continually breaking rules and procedures a communication letter and/or a phone call home will be issued. Consequences will be reasonable, logical, and consistent.
