Enrollment

The Adult Education and Literacy Program provides free classes in GED, ESL and Literacy for anyone who is 16 years of age and older. In order to participate in one of the programs, you must attend an orientation and complete an assessment test(s).  Please locate your program of interest below for more information.

General Educational Development (GED)                         

Classes are designed to meet the needs of your individual learning styles and are self paced.  Once you complete a Locator and the TABE Assessment tests, you will then have the opportunity to join the class which will help you develop the academic skills necessary for you to pass the GED Exam. Classes are held during the day or evening.  

The last orientation and testing for this school year will be held on:

    Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 5:30pm 

      Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 10:00am   

An additional class site, Women In Charge, is also offered to young ladies.  If you are interested in this program, please contact Ann Fitter at (314) 727-5515 to make an appointment for orientation and testing.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

The ESL classes serve non-native speakers from various cultures with a working knowledge of English in preparation for citizenship tests, the workplace, additional education, and daily living.  The aim of the program is to provide students with reading, writing, and conversation skills for basic survival and interaction in their communities.  Class are held at various times for beginning, intermediate and advanced levels.

The last orientation and testing for this school year will be held on:

    Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 5:30pm 

    Wednesday, May 6, 2010 at 10:00am   

Literacy Education Program

Individuals interested in joining must complete a one-on-one orientation and a TABE Assessment test.  Tutoring sessions are held at various sites throughout the University City community.  If you are interested or know of someone who could benefit from this program, please contact us at (314)993-0462 to make an appointment.
