Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Children of all ages know Dr. Seuss (Theodor  Geisel), beloved author of over 60 children’s books characterized by inventive words and zany drawings.  What’s your favorite?  Green Eggs and HamThe LoraxOh, the Thinks You Can Think?

Delmar-Harvard celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday March 2 with a pancake breakfast for students and families and a visit from the Cat in the Hat, also known as Ms. Carrie Moore, reading specialist.  In fact, Ms. Moore was not the only hat-wearing cat, as evidenced by the many tall red and white striped hats in attendance at the breakfast.

We know that Dr. Seuss loved to read. He wrote I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

And he was very clear about the importance of reading:

“The more that you read, the more things you will know.

The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

It’s clear that Delmar-Harvard students have taken Dr. Seuss’s message to heart; they are great readers! Dr. Seuss would be proud.
