Margaret Williams Honored by State Education Officials

November 21, 2008

For Margaret Williams, this school year has been one joyous moment after another.

On November 19, she was officially honored as the 2008-2009 Missouri Teacher of the Year by state education officials at a special banquet held at the Capitol Plaza Hotel.  Also honored was Special School District teacher Mariah Spanglet, who works at Flynn Park Elementary School and was among five finalists competing for the Teacher of the Year title.

Several dozen family members, colleagues and district leaders travelled to Jefferson City to attend the event.

Williams received a bevy of gifts including $15,000 in SmartBoard technology materials and training from the SMARTerKids Foundation of Canada.

Earlier this month, Williams was honored during a University of Missouri football game.  On December 10 she will travel to the state capitol on for an open house and photo session with Gov. Matt Blunt.  She will also be presented with a proclamation to honor her accomplishments.
