Delmar-Harvard Students Participate in Summer Reading Program
August 22, 2008

Thirty students from Delmar-Harvard participated in the U. City Library’s Summer Reading Program. Not only did they read great books, but they enjoyed special parties and prizes.
A very noticeable prize went to Jessica Murphy-Washington, 6th Grade, who read 108 hours. She and several friends were driven home from school yesterday in a sleek, black limousine.
According to Marilyn Phillips, youth librarian, students were considered finishers after reading 12 hours and invited to attend special parties for their grade levels if they read 16 hours. Congratulations to our 16 “finishers”: Alexandria Harris, Alexia Luckett, Amit Cohen, Bella DeArmitt, Caleb Warren, Daisy Floyd, Darius Warren, Elagbe Dorvlo, Emily Reheman, Ernest Green, Griffin Floyd, Jessica Murphy-Washington, Karl Nelson, Maya Acharya, Ravi Cohen, and Zhong-Mei Webb.
Other students read over the summer as well. Be sure to ask your friends and classmates for their recommendations.
