Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary School is working
with Bridge to Knowledge Foundation in order to provide students
with their very own computer. Students will be eligible to
earn a computer after meeting a defined set of criteria determined
by Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary School and Bridge to Knowledge
Foundation.
Companies
donate the used computers, which are then cleaned and loaded with
Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word. This program is
designed to help bridge the gap between students who have access to
computers at an early age and those who do not. Bridge
to Knowledge Foundation is attempting to address this “Digital
Divide” by involving businesses to place a steady stream of
technology into the homes of students who would not have the means
to acquire it otherwise.
This is a
great opportunity that is being extended to our students and we are
very
excited.
