SPAM

On average we receive close to 50,000 email messages a day from outside the District. Of that number, our filter blocks about 95% or 47,500 messages. This means that only about 2,500 messages out of 50,000 sent are being delivered on a daily basis, or a little over 3 per user on average.
Messages are blocked based on several criteria that attempt to determine if it is either spam - unsolicited bulk email, or contains a virus or other malicious attachment. There is no attempt to stop valid email. When a message is blocked, the sender receives a message from us indicating that their email was not delivered along with a description of why.
If you are still receiving an inordinate amount of junk mail you can forward examples to spam@u-city.k12.mo.us for us to evaluate for possible modifications to the filter. You may also use the "Junk Mail Handling" feature on the "Tools" menu in Groupwise.
