Delmar-Harvard Spelling Bee
February 11, 2008

Twelve Delmar-Harvard students in Grades 3-6 spelled their best in the annual spelling bee, held January 15. Second grade teacher Nikki Weiss organized the bee, and Carrie Moore, reading specialist, called the words. The entire student body was in attendance and proved an attentive and supportive audience, cheering appreciatively when words were spelled correctly. Congratulations to the winner, Maddie Chilten, to Jessica Washington (second place/alternate), and to all the participants: Kevin Phillips, Aliyah Merrill, Chad Mitchell, Lauryn Marshall, Kayanna Wymbs, Reggie Morris, Teeya Jones, Chelsi Williams, Deanna Smith, Jason Huntley and alternates Steven Kelly, Kassidy Little, Will Nichols, Christopher Andry, Akilah John and Austin Johnson.

Maddie will participate in the written semi-finals at Maryville University on March 1st. If she qualifies, she will go on to the final (oral) bee March 8, also at Maryville. Good luck, Maddie!
