Bright Flight 2008-2009 Scholarship Requirements to Increase
September 18, 2007
According to the Missouri
Department of Higher Education (MDHE), the ACT and College Board
assessment companies announced that the minimum scores for the top
three percent of all Missouri students taking the assessment tests
have increased.
Last year, to qualify in the top three percent for the 2007-2008
Bright Flight Scholarship, graduating seniors from the class of
2007 must have achieved an ACT composite score of 30 or above; or
an SAT verbal score of 780 or above and a math score of 780 or
above.
At this time, the qualifying scores for tests taken before the June
2008 date for the 2008-2009 college academic year (graduating class
of 2008) has increased to 31 or above for ACT composite; with SAT
scores of 790 or above in math and 780 or above in verbal.
Candidates are required to maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point
average to remain eligible for the scholarship along with all other
eligibility criteria.
Students who are currently receiving the 2007-2008 scholarship,
either as an initial recipient or renewal student, do not have to
retake the examination to achieve the 2008-2009 qualifying
score.
As a reminder, scores achieved during a student's sophomore and
junior years are acceptable, as long as they meet or exceed the
criteria set for the student’s senior year.
